Wanstead vs Hainault & Clayhall    22 October 2011

Wanstead won by 5 wickets

Herons skipper Joe Palmer lost the toss and was asked to field first, and what a fantastic fielding performance resulted. Zain Shahzad and Merv Westfield were very tidy with new ball with good support from Adnan Akram and Kishen Velani, yet the major contributors were 'run outs.'  As many as 4 of the six wickets were won like this, three coming from direct hits from Joe, Kishen and Merv.  Hainault were limited to 92 runs in this very economic and efficient effort.

Captain majestic Joe Palmer led from the front with the batting, retiring early with an aggressive 25 which included 2 sixes.  Your correspondent, on the other hand, opted to bore the massive crowd, but also meandered his way to retirement with his painstaking (ie tedious - Ed) 25. More aggression from Merv (22*) saw the way to a win by 5 wickets in just the 7th over.

The next Herons game is on Saturday 5th November v Harold Wood.  Please bring your own fireworks.
