Wanstead Cricket Club "Akram Twins"
Cancer Charity Challenge
Dear Members and Guests,
In late 2005 Wanstead Cricket Club decided to hold some charity events due to the loss of three members through cancer, this included the restart of the Boxing Day Cricket match (and yes it did snow) and Thomas Mah took the embarrassment of keeping his hair uncut
for a long period of time, this thus far has raised excess of £1100.
The enthusiastic members at Wanstead Cricket Club have got together and have initiated another idea, Arfan Akram (Wanstead Cricket Club 1st XI Captain) and his twin brother Adnan Akram (Sunday 1st XI Captain) will go head to head and battle for your money...
The objective is to ask people to sponsor the boys per run, this will only include league and cup matches, at the end of the season you will only pay for the twin with the most runs and the losing twin will be set a dare (the dare has not been clarified the leading challenge is to face the bowling machine at 99mph)
For example if you sponsor the twins at 2p per run:
Adnan Scores 750 runs
Arfan Scores 720 runs
Then you will pay for Adnan's Runs
750 x £0.02 = £15.00
And Arfan will face a whole bucket of the bowling machine at 99mph
Finally In previous seasons Wanstead have attracted many Legends of International cricket such as Courtney Walsh, Michael Holding, Keith Fletcher, James Foster & Mohammed Akram as well as Leading officials in the game such as umpires Aleem Dar & Billy Bowden, the club has agreed that the money raised will go towards Imran Khan Cancer Hospital, and through strong cricketing links the club will get Mr Khan to visit our ground at Overton Drive to accept the final money (date to be confirmed).
As an incentive each person participating in this Charity Challenge will be given a unique number, and in the presence of Mr Khan, a raffle will be drawn and will receive a prize, however the top prize has yet to be confirmed
Once again please dontate generously as all money raised will go directly to charity
To donate please contact us @
wansteadcricketclub@hotmail.co.uk
please quote your name, contact number and how much you wish to donate per run
Kind Regards
