Final League Round-up    3 September

As Henry Chambers reports elsewhere, Arfan Akram's 1st XI emerged runners-up in the Premier League after a definitive win over close rivals Ilford.

The Twos traveled to Valentine's Park but the result was anything but rosy, so they too are runners-up in the Second Eleven Premier League.

Despite substantial half-centuries for Mahesh Velani and Sahir Akbar in the 3rd team, and adherent application from David Gibbs for the 4ths, these two XIs lost to Chelmsford.  The Herons 3rds remain relegated from the Third Eleven Premier League and the 4s, albeit clearly comfortable in the division below, must comply with league rules and go down too.

Dev Patel's seminal century in the 5th XI match at Horndon led to victory and the consolidation of a mid-table place in the Fourth Eleven Premier League.  Dev was so excited at his own display that he went home without his trousers!

Life was not honeyed for the 6th XI, who subsided somewhat at Billericay and persist rather than prevail in the division below.

The Saturday was surmounted by the most successful senior team in the club, the Heronettes, with a most convivial celebration at Overton Drive
