Buckhurst Hill 'B' v Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club C Indoor Team on Sat 27 Jan 2018 at 10.00am
Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club Lost by 21 runs
Match report
Okay, lets get the niceties out of the way...Well done Chris P for his 50 not out, blah blah blah. Yeah, Chris looked just the ticket when he was smashing sixes in the last over. but hey we can all do that when the match was lost by us requiring 50 runs in the last two overs. So please dont you all start fawning over this innings. Chris was doing his job, no more no less. Im sorry Chris that I am having to write this report in this fashion. Your innings was brilliant, but I just cant let the others know that it was good. Because it will just demotivate them. You have seen that they are fragile and dont take losing well. (although of late they have become fairly accustomed to it)
Now for the cold realities of the match. FORTY EXTRAS, I will repeat it for those who cant quite believe what they are reading "FORTY EXTRAS" were given to Buckhurst Hill. And for those who still cant believe it "FORTY EXTRAS".
How many did the opposition give away, I here someone shouting? Well it was just 9. Nine miserly extras. Let me just repeat that "9 extras" were given by Buckhurts Hill to the wanstead total.
I know, the shock and horror of it all is palpable. Having to put the words down on this piece, well its a struggle. But I will do it, so the public get to read this news in the hope that it never get repeated
Some voices have been heard shouting that a lot of the extras were due to the poor keeping. The non jealous neutral unbiased voices are trying to counter the fake voices. The keeper had an awsome match with both gloves and bat. It cant be helped that the players around him cant bowl in a straight line or know where to plant the front foot when bowling a legal delivery.
There were a few glimpses of excellent fielding and a harsh dismissal, when one of the Buckhurst Hill players was run out on a no ball. A player was also caught on a no ball as well. I am not sure who that was, so cant bring that person to the publics attention, just yet.
For some reason Ibrahim has developed an excellent fielding ability. Its most unlike a Wanstead player to have those skills. We on the whole admire the oppostion for having them and are in total shock when its one of our own that displays them during a match. I have to say to Ib, please stop that as you are starting to make the rest of the team (not including the keeper in this of course) look like they are veterens and its not good for team morale if more than one of the team displays excellence. Actually, Chris L was also out doing himself in the field as well.
The only player that hasnt been mentioned is Matloob P and there is a reason for it, he bowled rubbish. On the positve side, he did bat very well in the tail. Depsite being told to remember that Chris P is in the hut and we can afford to lose the player that isnt scoring runs as quickly as his partner. (For clarification purposes, Matloob was holding the scoring up. He wanted to run singles. We needed boundaries, not singles) Then half way into his innings he says to his partner, Chris is in the hut so we can lose a wicket. I think he was trying to say that they person who has scored the runs should retire. Well they hit another boundary and was retired anyway, having scored a quick 25.
Hang on a munite, I stand corrected. I forgot to give a mention to Rosie. It will be quick, he bowled S***t got one of the dodgiest wickets I have ever seen, gave away wides, batted 3, scored 1 and then b******d off.
And that is everyone mentioned.
However, despite all that. WE STILL LOST
The outlook for the C team is not all doom and gloom. They arent going to be relegated. Mid table mediocrity is a good position to be.
Anyway, if you havent already realised, the title of this piece is "FORTY EXTRAS" and on that I will leave you. Until next time Adieu
