Match report Wanstead won the toss and elected to bat, on an improved nutter lane wicket yet still a bit soft and it was to tell. A patient start saw Burgess and Saleemi get to 80 of the first 20 overs with Saleemi falling soon after the break for 47 after a partnership of 103 with Burgess. Popal was then dismissed for 1 and Burgess soon followed with 53. Waqar offered the only real threat reaching 20 seeing Wanstead score 174 of the 40 overs. A dissapointing total developing from 103 with no loss to 173 for 9.

With Braintree needing 4.5 an over, Wanstead had to bowl tightly and take wickets as well. Rahman and Chaudhri kept the run rate below what was needed, but Braintree looked in good stead with no wickets lost. Burgess was then brought into the attack bowling 5 overs for 15 runs and Ellis-Grewal at the other end getting 3-19 of 8 overs, figures which steered the game Wansteads way. Saleemi bowled well getting 1-13 of 5 overs and Burgess returned to take 3-14 of his second spell leaving him with figures of 3-29 of 8 overs. Popal also bowled well picking up 1 wicket for 25 runs.

A tight game was eventually wrapped up with Braintree reaching 158, just 16 runs behind, and the game could have easily swung either way.
