Match report Sunday the 8th June 2014 saw Wanstead & Snaresbrook U13 boys play their 3rd round of the Peter Coe 2014 cup match against Hornchurch U13. The day was blistering with bright sunshine with no chance of rain for a change. The match started with Wanstead winning the toss and electing to bat first. Robin Das opened the batting with Manvir Gakhal, both started steadily, Robin was starting to look good when he cracked a brilliant cover drive only to be caught by Klem from Hornchurch leaving him with only one run scored. Manvir continued his fine form but finally fell for 69. There were contributions from Rafey and Brandon where they scored 18 and 20 runs respectively.
Star batsman for the day was Zain Piracha who scored a brilliant 100 Not out amassing 18 4's and 2 6's, this was a fantastic batting display. Wanstead u13 finished their inns on 229-3. Hornchurch U13 went into bat but almost immediately Faraz Rahman removed one of the openers. There was some resistance from the Opposition particularly from Klem who finished up with 24 not out. Wickets were falling consistently and finally finished on 72 all out with Brandon Lord gaining figures of 4 overs for 2 wickets and no runs, Faraz Rahman 4 overs for 2 wickets for 1 run, Rafey 3 overs for 2 wickets for 14 runs and Manvir Gakhal 1 over for 2 wickets and 2 runs. All in all it was a good friendly game of cricket from both sides.
