Match report Woodford Green won the toss and elected to bat. Wanstead captain, Ahmed, rotated the bowling with the wholly unexpected result that the first three wickets to fall went to wicketkeepers! WG made a very respectable 133 for 5 with 2 players retired off their 20 overs, giving Wanstead a sizeable target to chase.

Ahmed and Nick opened the batting and performed exactly as required, retiring on 30 and 31 respectively. Mustafa kept the rate going, relieving pressure on the rest of the team. With 8 needed off the last over, Gabriel found a single off the first ball, giving Finlay the strike. A swept 4 and monumental straight 6 over mid on and the game was won. (Note: you do *not* get extra points for hitting the houses in Nutter Lane).

...and Rahib played? He didn't bat or bowl but *kept wicket* - and did so very competently! Congratulations and many thanks also to ex Wanstead member Joshua who stepped forward on Saturday evening to fill one of the vacant slots in the team. Unfortunately, the website software will only allow me to call him AN Other..(
