Match report Sunday @ Nutter Lane, began with high stress levels with the loss of the normal wicket keeper, only to have his boots filled by James Durcan. Who for a keeper that hasn't had the true opportunity to test himself at this level, performed really well with the gloves.
Today's Matchplay fixture was the last of the groups stages before the second round of Group stages. Wanstead need to win this match and well against a stubborn opposition that played really well and although they scored 80 runs, they achieved that by playing the right game and it took over 36 overs to dismiss Basildon. With some excellent bowling from Sheri (our man of the match)and well supported by Finlay, Waseem, Abdul, Nick and Rahib, Wanstead only had a target of 81 to reach to win.
So tea and a swap of scorers (thanks Steve for scoring), coach asks the openers to knock off the runs at around 6 runs an over, with the hope that he might get some fathers day at home. Anyway thankfully Sheri obliged and averages the innings at 10 an over ended the match. Sheri scored a superb 61 with great support from Abdul (12), Wanstead went home early and enjoyed a good win.
