Wanstead Ladies in Semi-Final
Indoor Success Continues
Wanstead Ladies began their indoor season against Rayleigh in October. Scoring 127-1, they won by 57 runs with good batting from Saba Nasim, Hannah Newman, Natalie Wheat and Neha Mahatma.
The second match vs Colchester & East Essex resulted in another win, this time by 29 runs.
The Heronettes then beat Maldon by making 94-3 and bowling them out for only 29, which included a maiden hat-trick for Saba.
In the 4th match vs Old Chelmsfordians Wanstead ladies made 96-5. They proceeded to dismiss the opposition for 53, Anjali Bamrah, Saba and Neha sharing the wickets. .
The 5th fixture was another good win against Rayleigh, the Ladies improving their winning margin this time to 58 runs with a speedy 47* from Neha.
The return match against Colchester taught us the value of overthrows and poor running between the wickets as we suffered our first defeat of the series.
Winning the 7th game would lead to a semi-final spot and, sure enough, the Ladies ensured a comfortable victory over Maldon with lots of runs from Hannah, Neha, Natalie and Dipti Puthawala.
Having qualified for the semi-final the Heronettes could relax for the last game of the league, against Old Chelsmfordians. This led to their biggest win of all. Saba's rapid 43* pointed the way to a total of 99-4 after which the opposition were all out for 18.
The semi-final match is against another Old Chelmsfordians VI, on Monday 9th Dec at 8pm.
