Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club News story

Join the volunteer team and help Wanstead Juniors thrive

17 Feb 2025

We're very much on a countdown to the start of the season. We've been working hard to make this coming summer the best season for our juniors for many years. We plan to organise more cricket so everyone who trains regularly, plays games regularly and we have many more qualified coaches to further improve our training sessions.

Brand new for this season:
  • Reception age juniors - fun 45 minute sessions on Thursdays
  • Year 1 and 2 juniors - a fun 45 minute game on Mondays.
  • Softball cricket sessions for girls on Friday
  • Year 5, 6 and 7 - a weekly hard ball game at Nutter Lane, probably Tuesdays
  • Softball games, every other week early on Saturdays
  • More friendlies for those not in their age groups first team.
  • A second hand kit and clothing store to help make cricket more affordable
  • A social committee to organise some fun events and raise some money.
  • A selected junior to be '12th man' for the men's first team every home game.
  • New WhatsApp Community Groups to improve our communications - please do accept the invitation you should have received as this is how we intend to send important messages in future.
And of course we will enter the usual competitions, have our tapeball games for year 3 to 5 on Mondays and have the regular Thursday (girls) and Friday sessions.

However to make this all a reality and to make Wanstead the very best club in the country for juniors, we need your help. Please give some serious thought to joining our volunteer team, we're not asking for much of your time. In return you will be playing a part in our wonderful club and ensuring we can continue to be a place where 400 young people come and safely learn to play cricket and enjoy the company of their friends

You don't have to have any cricket experience, we have many roles from running the second hand shop, or staffing the shed cafe to helping running a team, being an umpire or part of a newly formed social committee. You can find an outline of all the roles here.  Please do put yourself forward - you can do so on this Google form and somebody will be in touch.
Many thanks

Jon
